From the transcripted Interview of Patrolman Kryznitz

— BEGIN TRANSCRIPT —

Our unit had just been somewhat reinforced following the Catalina Hangar incident. Spc. Yuriyivna had acquired a new Bearpode asset; Wallace had quickly recovered thanks to this Cube tech, but we were still missing some of our junior troops. That’s when the call came in that one of the sector alarms had been triggered at a nearby research outpost. Command seemed super concerned about I and we were on the next transport out.

We needed up in some of the more archaic vehicles using essentially billygoat paths to get to this station. We weren't able to get dropped in via transport crate as the perimeter breach might have anti-air weapons, and regional command is already stretched thin on low-atmospheric transport vessel.

Getting the bearpode into the APC was funny to witness, but they luckily were enclosed from the biting winds going up the side of this mountain.

We arrive on site, parked the vehicles, found the security center, and began taking orders from the on-site field officer. Although an non-specialist trooper, she was confident in what she knew of the station. She advised that she had a trooper working out some "issues" in the area outside the station, so to be mindful of that while patrolling.

We didn't need to even figure that out those as the first shots range out and high-alert siren blared.

---BREAK---

So this batrep is a little later than I expected, but here it is! We're back with another 150-point game of Superiority, this time have my Kosmoflot facing off against a cell of Combined Army agents!

My list: gTIJa29zbW9mbG90DUxlYWd1ZSAxNTAoMSmBLAEBCAGBAwEBAAKFtQEBAAOFtQEBAASGLwEDAAWF8gABAAaA5AEHAAeF7gEGAAiF7gEKAA==

A slight variation to my last list, I just had Wallace and Rokot swap for LT. I'm hoping to get a little more aggressive with Wallace and his friends.

My main strategy was still going to rely on the bearpode to be a menace, with Wallace & Co. in support. I imagine in larger games/tables the bearpode won't be AS efficient compared to these smaller games, so I'm trying to get his milage in where I can.

Opponents List: gloFbW9yYXQQMTUwIFN1cGVyaW9yaXR5IICWAQEJAYIGAQUAAoIYAQEAA4YkAQIABIHsAQkABYH4AQQABoITAQMAB4H5AQEACIH5AQEACYH6AQEA

Looking at his list and considering how he had deployed (see that later), the Yaogat was going to be a problem with that MSV2, as I need smoke to safely traverse open areas. The K1 combi on the anyat would be a problem, but it needs to have the option to shoot me first, which Smoke and hopefully stop. I was expecting Gakis, but as we see later on, they were a menace, or just a thorn in my side, dealers choice on how you perceive them. I can't recall facing Pretas before, so it's an experience with them.

Deployment/Pre-game

So this is my first official time (in about 6 games now) being able to say everything for terrain in this board is mine! The buildings/barricades are from Corvus Belli, and the vehicles are from nfeyma on cults-3d! Their vehicles are all free to download and are printable with a resin printer.

WIP rollout saw the Kosmoflot Rokot win the choice, choosing to keep initiative and let the Combined choose their attack vector. The Combined chose to keep the "height advantage" and take the deployment zone with immediate access to the sentry tower (I bet you know what ended up over there). I opted to have the Combined go first, keep the narrative of them attacking the research station.

That meant I was deploying on the opposite side, which had the security center/vault, a jeep for cover, and some decent LoS blocking prices. I deployed a bit out of my usual, as having faced Combined once before, the possibility of a Parachutist (Dep Zone) is a justifiable concern. Combined deployed with the Yaogat, Anyat, and Dartok around the sentry tower holding that flank; Yaogat on top with that Spitfire had me realize my poor decision for setting up the table with that, oh well. The Vanguard, Dāturazi, Oznat set up on the opposite flank, while the two gakis and solo preta set up to sprint up the middle of the board across the rooftops.

My key-op was my bearpode. The Combined Key Op was (if i recall correctly) the Yaogat.

Turn 1

---CONTINUE---

We took our positions were we could. We caught quick glimpses of the intruders, weird looking humanoids with some equally as weird looking dog like things, or at least they ran around on four legs. Those dog things were wicked fast though. Got stuck in with our flank quite quick.

I took up a corner, about as far as I could get before I started hearing shots. I heard a shout as someone got hit, and then the sounds of swords or knives trading parrying hits. I noticed one of the new varangians that came with Wallace was flatlined. Probably got caught in the open by whatever that thing in the tower was.

---BREAK---

Top of turn: Combined Army

So top of turn 1 saw the Combined absolutely burst out of their deployment zone with the gaki, preta, Oznat (with its own preta), and the Dāturazi all flood forward with impetuous and any respective irregular orders. My eagerness to throw smoke helped my opponent on his active turn, as it let his critters move up and get more advantageous and close positions before getting into melee.

The Yaogat tagged one of my varangians and dropped him quite quick. Spitfire are no joke, even the non-AP ones, especially when in a 3-man link for that juicy +1B. The Vanguard went on Suppressive fire.

This is when he hacked the objective on his left flank, as his hacker was close to it and all my guys wanted nothing to do with Mr MSV-mcgee L2 and Spitfire on turn 1.

Bottom of turn: Ariadna

I spent too many orders fighting those damn Gakis, but they eventually died to Wallace and the other varangian, preta died as well to them. Bearpode had had enough hiding, jumped onto the roof, got shot in the face by the MSV Spitfire and suppressing Combi rifle, made all but 1 save, double chain rifle-d the oznat and preta, killing them, then managed to run forward (again proc-ing shots from the two aforementioned units and taking a wound, leaving him dogged), before managing to get into melee with the Dāturazi between the central buildings, and then dying to a combi rifle shot in the back as I berserked into him. Bearpode ended up dying between them buildings, but such is life as a bearpode in small games.

Rest of my orders were repositioning Wallace and the Varangian to attempt to take out the Vanguard with trading shots, but nothing stuck.

End of Round Scoring: Ariadna and Combined Army each hold 1 zone.

Turn 2

---CONTINUE TRANSCRIPT---

Welp, once again we are assigned a bear, and we lose a bear. This isnt the first the <controller> has lost, and it’s the one that she definitely did not get attached to. Based on some otherworldly howls that remind me of the audio samples of antipodes. More shots rang out, and Cpl Yatsenko apparently started to shoot his SMG at something from the rooftop.

The biggest surprise to me was the sound of drunk “hollerin” followed by the sounds of a shotgun. I guess this “Agent Cletus” showed up at the right time. There were some followup shots and i only presume he fell back somewhere. He was apart of the squad indicators on my monitor when we had shown up (along with the other troops that were here already), so that’s my best guess at that time.

We ended up moving forward a bit after those shotgun blasts in an attempt to get to one of the comm antennas; needed to ensure the connection was still active. We dispatched one of them still standing around the antenna, eventually, lots of bullets sent into it. We realized the intruders had done something to the antenna, so a few quick keystrokes one of the techies told me about definitely helped us get that back under control.

---BREAK---

Top of Turn: Combined Army

A relatively quick turn since the gakis and such were gone. The Vanguard held his suppression the entire turn. The Yaogat team progressively moved forward to eventually hack the other tower with whatever weird “science” they use. There some small interactions with AROs involving my non-LT Rokot just to see what would happen: he did live, after quick popping his head up, bullets flying by, and then popping back down again. I believe this is when the Dartok(?) made moves to towards the next tower for him in his other quadrant, while the yaogat and anyat moved to get some cover from the link team they had spooked Hard to do much when you have 4 regular orders, a tac-aware, and the LT order.

Bottom of Turn: Ariadna/Kosmoflot

A relatively quick turn as well that was also straightforward. Paracommando “Cletus” came in just outside the CA deployment zone and outside LoS/LoF for that fireteam. Then used an order to scoot up and double-tap the yaogat with the template of the boarding shotgun he was holding. I did incur an ARO from the anyat, and fell back into the drunken stupor that “Cletus” is going through. That did break the link team though, and whack his key-op; no Key-Op points for anyone here! The link-team with my rokots/strannik moved forward, dealt with the anyat by aggressively spreading some freedom seeds, then recovered the antenna and turned back on our total legal torrent website. Wallace traded some shots back and forth with the vanguard, as i was convinced he was the LT, or at least he was annoying sitting on suppression the entire game. I think i got hit more than i hit him, but Wallace made the saves, so it’s okay. Managed to get control of 2 zones to the Combined Army’s 1 by the end of the round, woo!

End of Round Scoring : Ariadna holds 2 zones to Combined Army’s 1.

Turn 3

---CONTINUE TRANSCRIPT---

With the work on this antenna done, and Lt. <name> saying there’s some still issues, we were off to the antenna by the sentry tower. Wallace hadnt said anything about them touching the antennas on his flank; but if he did he probably yelled it in a language i dont understand.

We moved up to address the antenna which had, in fact, been tampered with. We reset it and all was well, or thats at least what the screens had shown. We had heard some heavy footfalls while resetting the console for the antenna, but the troopers around me did not start firing, so i did not think anything about it. We did hear a chainrifle fire off at one point, followed by a shout, and then silence.

We heard those same heavy footfalls tear off out of the compound, presumably retreating. We found “Cletus” clinging to life, I was able to tend to his wounds better after we secured the area, he made it, barely. We called for some reinforcements, and we shipped out when they had arrived, along with some additional perimeter defenses and the next cycle of scientists that will be able to operate without thinking about what just happened here.

Top of Turn 3: Combined Army

So we calculated points, and the combined army were at exactly 38 of 38 points needed to avoid a Retreat! scenario. Order generation gave his a resounding 2 regular and the LT. The Dartok did a move to get off of the top of the building (while staying outside LoS/LoF of my rokot team via smoke grenades) to get to the other antenna/zone. The LT broke suppression and using the LT order, made a run for the nearest building to get cover and a nice cozy hiding space.

Bottom of Turn 3: Ariadna

The Rokot link ran forward and took the antenna back, while also ordering to have the team spread out a little biut to inevitably hold both zones on my right flank.. I used some orders to have my lone varangian/the duo team move to get a shot on the Dartok that had changed zones. The Varangain used her chainrifle to full effect and killed off the Dartok.

End of Round Scoring: Ariadna held 3 zones to Combined Army’s 0.

End of Game Scoring

Neither army group had their Key Op unit standing

Ariadna held 2 antennas/consoles

End Result: Ariadna victory

It’s always a fun game playing against my opponent for this one. This is yet another example to me that ariadna is s a solid choice for smaller-scale games, as my cheap carries shine; but this will come full circle in the coming weeks as we get into larger games, eventually to the standard 300 pt games, and then even a 400pt one.
